Agnes Jean Johannsen, 75, a lifelong resident of Wellington, died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at home. She was born on July 24, 1940 in Lorain to the late James and Stephanie (nee Horinek) Lasky, and was a 1958 graduate of Wellington High School
Agnes retired from Green Circle Growers after 30 years, working in nearly every department. She proudly served with the Lorain County Sherriff's Auxiliary for 30 years as a Lieutenant working at the Lorain County fair for many years; in the Sherriff's booth taking finger prints and security for the entertainment and has many photos with the celebrities she has met. She also enjoyed working at the IX Center Food Expo.
Family history was important to Agnes and she enjoyed studying her past through the Wellington Genealogy group and the Czech Slovak Genealogy group. She liked to spend time with her friends and would meet regularly to play cards with the Thursdays Ladies group, line dancing, bowling, or finding the next great bargain. Agnes was also fortunate to have traveled all over the country and to many places around the world. She was always expressing great pride in her daughters and the many accomlishments of her grandchildren and the great grandchildren.
Agnes is survived by her daughters, Lori (Rick) Horvath of Elyria, Sharon Ohly-Johannsen, of Wellington, Kelly (Tod) Rushing of Ocala FL, and Jacqueline Johannsen of Avon Lake; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings Betty Groot of Kipton, Stephanie Liss and Andrew Lasky both of New London. She was preceded in death by her brother James Lasky.
Friends and Family will be received on Monday June 27, from 4-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington, 44090, and again on Tuesday at the Lorain County Fairgrounds, from 10 until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. Rev. Charles Livermore will officiate and burial will take place at Brighton Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Agnes' memory may be directed to the Lorain County Sherriff's Auxiliary or the Wellington Geneology Group.
