Anna Lee "Annie" Cromer, 78, of Wellington, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. On December 10, 1938, Annie was born in Rogersville, TN to the late George and Fern (nee Davenport) Shanks.
Annie considered herself a housewife, but also worked at Green Circle Growers for five years. She enjoyed gardening and caring for nature. She spent many hours walking on her property, watching the birds, picking berries and canning. Her major passion in life was taking care of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - hers and others.
Survivors include her children, Dwight (Melody) Cromer, of Chattanooga, TN, Deborah (Tom) Schuman, of Amherst, Arthur (Pamela) Cromer, of Wellington, Martha (John) Ward, of Oberlin and Lisa (Brian) Hipp, of Wellington; grandchildren, David Cromer, Kimberly Cromer, Josh Ward, Tom Schuman II, Andrew Hipp, Vincent Hipp, Meredith Clement and Cortney Hershey and 8 great grandchildren. Annie is also survived by her siblings, Virgie Ratliff, Margaret Brown, George Shanks, Ernie Shanks, and Brenda Hale. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, whom she married on June 7, 1955, her parents; stepdad, Charles Spears and sister, Linda Rose.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Cemetery.
