Anne Marie Parsons

Anne Marie (nee Von Kamp) Parsons 51, of New London, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 after a lengthy and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Anne taught twenty-seven years in the New London School District as a second and third grade teacher. She loved teaching, hated the state testing, and always found fun and creative ways of conveying her content in her own way.

Spending time with her family was her favorite thing to do, especially family game night. She also had a passion for hosting foreign exchange students, having hosted 14 students over many years. Her daughters and grandson meant the world to her, and she loved going to all their activities no matter how far she had to travel.

Anne was a member of the Hartland Center Community Church. It was her faith in Christ that allowed her to battle her disease so strongly. Because of her faith in the Lord she now resides in Heaven with a new body.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Mick; daughter and son-in-law, Kirsten and Nate Phelps of South Amherst, OH; daughter, Neely Parsons at home; grandson, Bryce Parsons, mother and stepfather, Jeanne and Harold Rarden of Flemingsburg, KY; brothers, Erik and Kyle Von Kamp, and many foreign exchange students that called her "mom."

She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Von Kamp; maternal grandparents, Lily and Elwin Wiley and paternal grandparents, Norman and Myrtle Von Kamp.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 from 1-2 pm for New London School staff members only at New London Schools, 1 Wildcat Drive in New London and again from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm for the general public. Funeral services will be held at the same location at New London Schools on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11 am with the Rev. John Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Street Cemetery. A lunch reception will follow at 12:30 pm at the Hileman Building.
