Arlene Elizabeth Beck

Arlene Elizabeth Beck, 87, of Nova, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at University Hospital EMH in Elyria. Born on December 1, 1930, in Avon Lake, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Viola (nee Jackson) Beck. Arlene was a 1949 graduate of Avon Lake High School, in 1958 she moved to Nova, where she lived most of her life.

Arlene began her career as a secretary with an insurance company in Cleveland. She moved to Nova and became the executive secretary with Hess and Clark and later ConAgra in Ashland. Arlene had been a member of the Nova Community United Methodist Church. She served as the treasurer of the Christian Womens Connection in Ashland and as the secretary with the Golden Crescent Collectors Club in Huron. Arlene enjoyed craft shows and was a talented knitter, and made several afghans for her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed puzzles and bird watching and following her beloved Cleveland Indians. Most important to Arlene was time spent with her family.

Arlene is survived by her brother Russell (Joan) Beck; Brother-in-law Louis Stegman; as well many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Lillie (Bennie) Terry, Elaine (Richard) Valentin, Elsie Stegman, and Carl (Barbara) Beck Jr.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington, and on Saturday at the Brighton United Methodist Church, 51011 State Rt 511, from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Rev.
