Bertha Lue Barnett

Bertha Barnett, 93, of New London, died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at home. She was born on January 18, 1925 to the late Walter and Sadie Belle (nee DuBois) Hartman. Bertha lived in Sandusky for many years before returning to Fitchville in 1970.

Bertha was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in New London. She enjoyed spending time outside gardening, crocheting, and making doilies and afghan blankets. Bertha enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing card games, especially Skipbo. Bertha enjoyed baking and her family will always remember her homemade donuts. She cherished children. Every evening before bed she would recite the comforting words of Psalm 23.

Survivors include her son Ephraim E. "Bub" Barnett, of Ruggles, and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ephraim E. Barnett; infant children Bertha and David Barnett; daughter Betty Lou Elliott; and siblings Leroy Hartman and Alberta Henderson.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, May 14, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of New London, 432 Park Ave, New London, 44851, where services will be held on Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland Co. Memorial Park. Donations may be directed to either the First Baptist Church or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, 44870.
