Bonita Barnes Obituary

Bonnie Marie Barnes, age 77, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 17, 2017 after a short illness.

She was born February 23, 1940 in Lorain, Ohio, to her loving parents Bert and Elizabeth "Betty" Kuhn.

The family moved to Amherst in 1947 where Bonnie graduated from Amherst Central School in 1957.

She married her high school sweetheart Dave R. Barnes on May 9, 1959 and together they had just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. She and her husband moved from Amherst to Greenwich in 1997.

Bonnie loved all things bright and beautiful in nature, especially flowers and trees. Her yard was always filled with many beautiful plants which she lovingly tended to. She also enjoyed feeding birds and loved to watch the many different varieties that visited her numerous bird feeders. In addition, Bonnie loved all animals and shared her heart with many over the course of her life.

Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She enjoyed Christmas Eve with all her family and so loved enjoying a bacon bread at the yearly szalona sutes her family held. Bonnie was proud of her Hungarian heritage and had the opportunity to travel to Hungary and meet her many relatives.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; daughters, Traci (Russ) Thorpe of Grafton, OH, Toni E. Whitelock of Greenwich, OH and David R. (Bridget) Barnes of Taylorsville, KY; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Bertine Lockhart of Vermilion, OH and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Elizabeth Kuhn; sister, Ardith and brother-in-law, Emery Staylon.

Per her request, there will be no funeral service. A private family celebration will be held at a later date. If desired, contributions can be made in her name to your favorite animal shelter.
