David Hanmer Obituary
David Lee Hanmer, 79, of Wellington, died Monday, July 31, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Born on December 26, 1937 in Oberlin, he was the son of the late Merle and Minnie (nee Nieding) Hanmer. David was a 1956 graduate of Oberlin High School and a lifelong resident of the Oberlin and Pittsfield areas
David owned and operated Rural Country Carpet. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and gardening. For over 30 years David took fishing trips to Canada. He cherished time with his family and his grandkids, especially the time he spent teaching them to fish.
Survivors include his wife Linda (nee Reisinger); Children Cynthia Hanmer, of GA, Peggy (Jon) Kish, of Columbus, Michael D. Hanmer, of Wellington, and Jodi (William) Wiechowski, of Berea; siblings Robert (Brenda) Hanmer, of Oberlin, Nadine (Gary) Gott, of Wellington, Linda (David) Pleasnick, of Lorain. David was preceded in death by siblings Naomi, Kay, Clint, Dick, and two infant siblings.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday August 3, 2017 from 4 to 7 at Norton-Eastman, 370 South Main St, Wellington, where services will be held on Friday August 4, 2017 beginning at 10:30am with Barbara Habecker officiating. Burial will follow at Pittsfield East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Lorain County 4-H Endowment c/o OSU extension L.C. 42110 Russia Rd. Elyria, OH 44025.
