Deborah Dougherty Obituary
Deborah Jane (nee Hippo) Dougherty, 67, of Wellington, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 under the care of New Life Hospice in Lorain. She was born on March 10, 1947 in Altoona, PA to Betty Jane (nee Smith) and Edward Hippo. She graduated from Altoona High School and was the valedictorian of the Mercy Hospital School of Technology radiology class.
A radiologist for many years, Deborah worked for Amherst Hospital the majority of her career. Deborah was a member of the Wellington American Legion Post 8 Auxiliary. A passionate Steelers fan, Deborah also enjoyed cross stitch, puzzle books and playing Nintendo video games. She treasured the time she spent with her grandkids and her dog, Max and her vacations to Chicago.
Deborah is survived by her mother, Betty; daughters, Lori (Greg) Kidd, of Wellington and Denise Dougherty, of Palatine,IL; grandchildren, Dylan, Grant, Michael and Amanda Kidd and siblings, Patricia Hippo, of Las Cruces, NM, Edwin (Nancy) Hippo, of Round Lake, IL; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Dennis) Bonson, of Reedville, PA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Dougherty; her father, Edward; brother, William Hippo and infant brother, Edward W. Hippo.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington. Donations in memory of Deborah can be directed to the American Lung Association, 55 W.
