Delora Steffen Obituary
Delora I. Steffen, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in New London on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born on November 26, 1927 to the late Leo and Ida (nee Fries) Strickfaden in Willard.
Delora was a Willard High School graduate. She was a longtime school secretary, beginning her career in Willard before later becoming the secretary to the superintendent at Mapleton, where she worked for over 25 years.
Delora cherished her family. She loved to read, sew and crochet, and was talented at refinishing furniture and hanging wallpaper.
Delora was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in New London and was part of the Altar & Rosary Society.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Rebecca) Steffen of New London, Janet (Don) Hootman of Polk, Barbara (Paul) Boll of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Carolyn (John) Cicillian of New London and Sharon "Sherry" (Ron) Ringler of Polk; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Laura (Dennis) Hickey and special niece, Lucille Diehm.
In addition to her parents, Delora was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Ervin Steffen; great granddaughter, Madison French and sisters, Marie Diehm, Dorothy Hahler and Bertha Strickfaden.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 5-8 pm with a Rosary service at 7:30 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Saturday September 16, 2017, with Fr. Kishore Kottana officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in New London. Memorials in Delora's name may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Altar & Rosary Society, 18 Park Avenue, New London, Ohio 44851.
