Eleanor Wolfe Landis

Eleanor Wolfe Landis, 92, of New London, died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the Laurels of New London. Born on January 5, 1926 in Hartland Township, she was the daughter of the late Emmor and Evora (nee Beckham) Wolfe. Eleanor was a 1943 graduate of New London High School. In September of 1944, Eleanor married Harold Landis. They were married for 58 years.

Eleanor was an active member of her community and proudly served on the Election Board for many years. She was a member of the New London United Methodist Church, UMW, and would help with meals. She served as a 4-H advisor for the Rip-n-Stitch Club for over 35 years and was a member of the Grange since 1939. She also gave her time to the Red Cross blood drives, volunteered at numerous track meets, and was a member of the Rochester Civic Club. When not volunteering or helping her family on the farm, Eleanor and Harold enjoyed traveling with friends and family, both across the country, especially to Niagara Falls and Nashville, and through Europe. She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for her family and many others. She will also be remembered for her pies and for always having cookies on hand for family and friends. Most of all Eleanor cherished her family and the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children Barbara (Robert) Knoll, Dick (Marie) Landis, both of New London, Mary Ellen (Ken) Neuzil, of North Olmstead, Sharon Rebmann, of Loudonville, Gary (Linda) Landis, Greg (Laura) Landis, both of New London, Kevin (Victoria) Landis, of Lorain, and Chris (Todd) Crawshaw, of New London; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and sister Maxine Lee, of Elyria; and sister-in-law Margaret Johnson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold Landis, in 2002; siblings Edna Olcott, Ilo Dolbee, Dorothy Rogers, Alvin Clair Wolfe, and Earline Linder; daughter-in-law Debbi Landis; and granddaughter Macy Landis.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, May 15, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London and again on Wednesday from 10 until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. at the New London United Methodist Church, 58 East Main Street, New London. Pastor Lorry Mabiala will officiate and burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Donations in Eleanor's memory may be directed to the Church.
