Fred W. Copsey, age 88, died at Ohio Veterans Home on Aug. 8, 2016, following a two-year illness.
Born March 3, 1928, in Olena to Katie L. (Miller) and Arthur Copsey, Fred was raised on a farm before serving in the Army and Air Force. On March 6, 1948, he married Dorothy Moffit.
Fred lived in Ruggles most of his life, though he drove all over the country as a self-employed truck driver. After retiring in 1993, Fred continued to work around his home and community, always finding people to talk to and things to keep him busy.
Survivors include Dorothy, his wife of 68 years; children Eric (Sue) Copsey, Rick (Nancy) Copsey, and Linda (Mark) Simmons; brothers Edward Copsey, Arthur Evans, Clarence Evans and Walter Evans; 11 grandchildren; and dozens of great and great-great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his son, James Copsey, and daughter, Mary Pay.
A visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Relatives and friends are welcome.
