Hazel Marie Schneiter

Hazel Marie Schneiter, 97, of New London, passed away peacefully surrounded by several generations of her loving family Tuesday, September 16, 2014. She was born on April 27, 1917, in Brighton Township, Ohio, to the late Cleston and Cecil Anderson. Hazel was a lifelong resident of New London and Fitchville.

She graduated from New London High School in 1935. Hazel enjoyed raising her family and helped run the family farm which is still owned and operated by her son Paul.

Hazel was a member of the Fitchville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Club and the Wide Awake Farm Women's Club. She volunteered at the Blood Mobile and Salvation Army.

Her passion was tending to her flower gardens, which brought so much joy to her and all those that passed by the farm.

Hazel is survived by her children, Paul (Pam) Schneiter, Ronald (Rose Mary) Schneiter, Lois J. (Joe) Baltes, Dale (Donna) Schneiter and Vicki (Kevin) Missler; daughter-in-law, Janice Schneiter; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Albert A. Schneiter; son, Phillip Schneiter and brothers, Robert, Phillip and Fred Anderson.

Her family will greet friends from 2-8 pm Thursday, September 18, 2014 and Friday from 10 am until the 11 am service at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London with Pastor Georgette Gaston officiating. Burial will follow in Fitchville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Fitchville United Methodist Food Pantry, 1593 US Route 250 South, New London, Ohio 44851.
