Jane E. Chandler, 90, of Oberlin and previously of New London, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Born on October 13, 1925, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of Birdsall and Theodora (Court) McDonald. Jane attended Norwalk High School, where she played clarinet in the band.
Jane worked at the former CE Ward Company as a seamstress making band uniforms and was a homemaker. In the latter half of her career, Jane managed Hampshire 1 apartments in Elyria with her husband. She was a member of Barrett's Chapel in New London, the lead in a family trio called, "The Heavenettes," singer with Rex Humbard ministries and member of Church of the Open Door in Elyria. Jane's passions included traveling, sewing, reading, studying the Bible, singing and doing crafts; she also enjoyed writing short stories and memoirs.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harold L. Chandler; children, Priscilla (Keven) Nutt of La Grange, Kentucky, Harold (Theresa) Chandler of Bloomfield, Kentucky, Jimmy Erwin of Parma, Twyla Thorley of New London, Theodora Morris of Norwalk and Gwen Abrams of Medina; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren and siblings, Russell, Allen and Dale McDonald.
Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Grimes; her parents and brother, Paul McDonald.
The Chandler family will greet friends Saturday, February 6th from 11 am until the noon memorial service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington.
