Lenore Mildred Anderson, 90, of New London, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2017 one day after her wedding anniversary. Born on June 10, 1927 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late George Remlin and Clara Mildred Fiecht. She grew up in Norwalk and moved with her husband to New London in the mid 50's to help care for the family farm.
Lenore began working as a caregiver to many elderly folks in the community and later assisted people with cleaning their homes. She was a longtime member of the New London United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. Lenore later began attending Freedom Christian Fellowship in Norwalk and was an active member. She was fascinated by God's creation, observing and taking in the awe and beauty of Gods nature, especially sharing sunrises and sunsets with her children. Birds, humming birds, deer, trusty companions in the home, and the beauty of plants and flowers also gave Lenore great joy.
Lenore will be remembered for the love she held for her family. If there was an activity that they enjoyed she took an interest, including fishing, Band boosters and helping lead the 4-H Happy Farmers. She was a talented cook and enjoyed collecting and trying new recipes or deconstructing a dish she enjoyed somewhere. Lenore was also known for her blue ribbon pies. Most important to Lenore was her faith. She lived for Jesus everyday.
Survivors include her children Douglas Anderson, Scott (Gail) Anderson, David Anderson, and Linda (Ken) Cook; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and nieces Jeanette and Lynette Humphrey. Lenore was preceded in death by her loving husband Phillip "Steve" Anderson in 1980, and her sister Ruth Humphrey.
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, and Friday at 10 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roy Harless and burial at Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
