Leota Atherton Obituary

Leota Elizabeth Atherton, 79, of Norwalk, died Friday, October 13, 2017 at Twilight Gardens. Born on March 30, 1938 in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Elizabeth (nee Conn) Atherton. Leota was a 1957 graduate of North Fairfield High School, and most of her adult life was spent in the Columbus area.

For 22 years Leota worked in the mail room for Grange Insurance. Prior to moving to Columbus, she was an active member of the Grange club.

Survivors include her sisters Alice Leber, of Florida, Margaret Tackett and her husband Gary, of Willard and her brother Marvin and his wife Betty (nee Coffman) Atherton, of North Fairfield. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and the Harper family, Mike, Valarie and their children Abigail and Daniel, of South Carolina. In addition to her parents, Leota was preceded in death by her sister Lucy.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, October 17, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, from 1 p.m. unit the time of services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Birmingham United Methodist Church Cemetery.
