Marie Casper Obituary

Marie Kathleen Walker Casper has passed away. Having grown up on a farm near Wellington, her happy life was the result of loving parents, husband, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings and animals. A descendant of Pittsfield's prolific McConnell family, Avon's historic Cahoon family and Elyria's ambitious Walker family (along with some Whitneys, Greens and a host of other families and friends thrown in) Marie enjoyed the kindness of many.
A graduate of Wellington High School she worked at The Chronicle Telegram in Elyria for over 45 years. In her spare time she was a volunteer EMT, then Paramedic with South Lorain County Ambulance District in Wellington for many years; she was also employed by North Central EMS and Lorain Community Hospital EMS.
She was a native of Wellington, reluctantly leaving for Norwalk (which she found to be very pleasant), finally moving to Berlin Heights where she was happier than she could have imagined. Life with her husband Neil brought her great joy, comfort and a wonderful family. Her marriage to Neil gave her a reason to wake up each day.
Marie was in the first training class of the Erie County Master Gardeners (2000); was active in community theatrical activities in Wellington; was a member and officer of the Heritage Society of Erie County; and a member and former officer of the Erie County Conservation League. She enjoyed knitting, crochet, sewing, gardening and especially reading (thank you, Mom and Dad!). She has loved and been loved by many pets throughout her lifetime and believed that her life would have suffered, remarkably, for their lack.
Marie is survived by beloved children, Curt and Cindy Casper and Jennifer and Rob McKillips; remarkable siblings, Iva Walker, Terry and Donna Walker, Priscilla and John Bidlake, and David and Pam Crawford; dear grandchildren, Seth, Kevin, Cara, Emma, Abby and Austin; dear nieces and nephews, Leah, Rich, Adam, Erin, Shea, Rhett, Kristin, Melanie, Sean, Reed, Cait, Jordan, Xzavier, Sophia, Brenden, Jack and Arlo.
She was preceded in death by her father J. Corbett Walker who gave her an amazing childhood; niece, Kelli Crawford Hall who brought her love and great warmth.
Marie continued to plan for the future but was clear in her belief that whenever it all ended, she would not leave her life disappointed... .she was happy and content with what she had done, so far and expected to continue to enjoy that which was to follow in death.
There will be no visitation but a gathering of friends (at a convenient date) to share in the joy of her life, as she would wish them to. Donations, if desired, may be made to the James and Roena McConnell 4H Scholarship Fund, (c/o Ann Pitts Buchs), the Heritage Society of Erie County (c/o the OSU Erie County Extension Office) or to the charity of the giver's choice.
