Marjorie Ann Lowther, 79, of Wellington, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Born in Zanesville, Ohio on August 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Lucille (nee Sly) and Clyde Stanfield. She lived in Wellington most of her life and attended Wellington High School.
Marjorie was the head cook at McCormick Middle school for over 40 years. She was a member of the Wellington First Congregational Church and was a ceramics teacher. She enjoyed playing cards, canning homemade jelly, going to plays and was an avid Indians and Cleveland sports fan. Marjorie was also a talented gardner, growing many types of flowers and strawberries.
Marjorie leaves behind her loving husband of over 59 years, James Lowther; children, Jim (Teri) Lowther, of Sheffield, Jay (Leanna) Lowther, of Wellington, and Jack (Lisa) Lowther, of South Amherst; grandchildren; Rachel, Jimmy, Eddie, Janet, Rebecca (Jeb), J.J., Amanda (Abraham), Michaela and Nathan; 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way; sister in law, Genevieve Stanfield and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde and Ted Stanfield.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, where services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie's name may be made to Wellington Schools Endowment Fund, 305 Union Street, Wellington, 44090, or Wellington First Congregational Church, 140 South Main Street, Wellington, 44090.
