Nicholas Bennett Obituary

Nicholas Bennett, 85, of Wellington, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Born in
Rachel, West Virginia on January 28, 1932, he was the son of the late Sam Bennett and Jennie
(nee Varbonich) Bennett. He served in the U.S. Army as part of the occupational force in
Okinawa after WWII and during the Korean conflict. Nicholas also received an Army of
Occupation Medal in Japan. He later went on to work for York International.

Nick was the past commander of the Wellington VFW and had held many different offices
there as well as the American Legion. He was very easy going and his favorite past times
were camping, especially at Rustic Lakes with his wife.

Survivors include his children Nick Bennett Jr., of Wellington, Tim (Dedra) Bennett, of Scotts
Valley, California and Dan Bennett, of Wellington, and granddaughter, Ashley. He is preceded
in death by his loving wife, Glenna Sue Bennett; his parents and many siblings.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the American Legion, 518 South Main Street, Wellington,
on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 1-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the Bennett family suggests
donations to the USO, 2111 Wilson Blvd., Suite 1200, Arlington, VA 22201 or at uso.org. Online
