Renate Thomas Obituary
Renate L. Thomas, 75, of Wellington, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Born in Germany on February 5, 1940, she came to the United States in her late teens. Renate became a U.S. Citizen in the 1970s and had lived in Wellington since 1981.
Renate was a member of the Wellington Eagles, VFW and American Legion. She enjoyed working as a bartender at the American Legion for many years until her retirement. Renate was an avid bowler, gambler and traveler until her health declined. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and friends.
Renate is survived by her son, Alan Rodgers of Texas; daughter, Paula (Josh) Gereke of Wellington and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Thomas; daughter, Jeanne and her siblings in Germany.
A celebration of life will be held on September 18that the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Wellington. Renate was under the loving care of Mercy New Life Hospice. Donations in her memory may be made to them at: 3500 Kolbe Rd, Lorain, OH 44053, or to the Lorain County Dog Kennel, 301 Hadaway Ct. Elyria, Ohio 44035.
