Robert G. Shays

Robert G. Shays, 71, of Wellington died November 23, 2016 at home surrounded by his family and friends. . Born July 10, 1945, Bob was the son of the late Donald and Ruth (nee Baird) Shays. He spent his childhood in Brighton and later moved to Wellington. He was a 1963 graduate of Wellington High School.
Bob worked for and owned several businesses, and most recently worked for SSI in Cleveland. Robert G. Shays was a past master of Wellington Lodge #127 and a member of Scottish Rite. Bob was a 45 year member of the Wellington #127 and served as Chaplin for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Wellington Eagles 2051 and VFW Post 6941. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his golf leagues with his sons. He also enjoyed playing Texas holdem poker. Most of all, Bob cherished time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Kathleen (nee Smith); children Scott (Maggie) Shays, of Wellington, Kevin (Patti) Shays, of New London, Kelli (Mark) Williams, Kim (Kip) Pasadyn, both of Wellington; grandchildren Robert, Alyssa, Marleigh, Austin, Shannon, Dylan, Lukas, Payton, Ashley, Jacob, Jessica and Jenna; great grandchildren Nora and Kennedy; Siblings Rita (Danny) George of Avon Lake and Donna (Orv).
