Evelyn W. Dreyer

Evelyn Dreyer, 88, passed away at the Elms on April 9, 2024. Evelyn was born in Oberlin on May 8, 1935 to George and Marion (nee Whitney) Houghton and was a 1953 graduate of Oberlin High School. She became a Wellington resident in 1961.

She worked for the Village of Wellington in the Clerks Office for nearly 30 years. Evelyn was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, and a life member of the Southern Lorain County Historical Society, the Allen Hospital Auxiliary and the AMVETS. She was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellington.

For many years, Evelyn volunteered at the Oberlin Hospital in the gift shop. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making infant caps for Ireland Cancer Center.

She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Scott) Loudin, of Wellington and Pamela (Joseph) Trocchio, of Dublin; grandchildren, Haley (Dominic), Kyle (Paige), Anthony (Sara), and Jennifer Lynn (Grant). Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Patti Benya; an infant son; her first husband, James O. Huff and her second husband Rodney E. Dreyer; and sister, Jane Eleanor McLoda.

A private family burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Evelyn's family suggests donations in her memory to Friendship APL,  8303 Murray Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035.
