Barbara A. Hirzel

Barbara A. Hirzel, 87, of Wellington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at her home. Born on September 20, 1931 in Elyria, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (nee Moeller) and Christopher Harrison. She was a graduate of Elyria High School.

Barbara had worked for Elyria Telephone Company as a switch board operator. She was a member of the Wellington Congregational Church and attended Washington Avenue Christian Church of Disciples. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, coloring, playing cards and attending auctions. She will be remembered for her love of chocolate and the special chocolate treats that she made for friends and family. Most importantly, Barbara cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Obechi, of Lorain, and Karen Rossell, of West Salem; grandchildren, Robert "Ben" Rossell and Annette Obechi; great-grandchild, Carmen; siblings, Sally Louis, David and Mark Harrison. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Roger Hirzel; children, Brian and Christopher Hirzel, and brother, Roger Harrison.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington from 1-3 & 6-8, where services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
