Beverly Penfield

Beverly J. Penfield, 74, of Norwalk, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Fisher Titus Medical Center.  She was born July 3, 1945, to the late Walton and Blanche (Horning) Jarvis in Norwalk, Ohio.   She was a lifelong area resident graduating from Norwalk High School in 1963.

Bev worked at Larry’s Printing in Norwalk, Ohio, as a clerk for the Norwalk City Schools, the Board of Education and later as a secretary for the Assistant Principal of Norwalk High School. She was co-owner of Lee’s Grill in Monroeville from 1985 to 1987 and most recently was a legal secretary for Sipe and Chapman Attorneys at Law.  Bev was a passionate activist for women’s rights and held memberships to the National Organization for Women, Oberlin Chapter and NARAL Pro Choice America for many years.  She had also worked the polls in Huron County for 39 years and was a member of the Huron County Democratic Party.  

Bev enjoyed gardening and took pride in her roses.  She enjoyed going to flea markets, festivals, and had participated in National Women’s Rights events.  She attended many cooking shows and was wonderfully talented at baking and cooking.  She had an appreciation for collecting antiques and was a member of the Northwest Ohio Bottle Club.  

Survivors include her daughter, Tisa A. Penfield of Tiffin, Ohio; former husband and friend, Corky Penfield of Norwalk, Ohio; brother, Timothy (Annette) Jarvis of Toledo, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Christina, Cynthia, Bradley, and John and dear friends, Jackie Harris and Ramona Keefer.

 In addition to her parents, Bev was preceded in death by her special friend Gilbert Burris Jr. in 2019, and by her best friend Barbara Marrett in 2017.

Friends may call on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio with Rev. Margaret D’Anieri officiating.  Interment will be held privately in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the National Women’s History Museum, 205 S.
