Daniel Peter Obringer

Daniel P Obringer, 79, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Gaymont Nursing Center.  He was born on January 29, 1940 in Oswego, NY to the late Orville and Ella (Mihochi) Obringer.  He moved to Ohio in the 1950’s and graduated from Norwalk St. Paul High School in 1957, and later from Kent State University.
 
Daniel cherished his family, and was passionate about Cleveland professional sports teams, especially the Cleveland Indians.  He enjoyed following his children and grandchildren as they participated in sports and had coached many little league and CYO baseball teams.  He loved golf and enjoyed reading, vacations, playing cards and landscaping.  He had been in many plays in high school and later at St Mary’s.
 
Daniel retired from Ford Motor Company where he had worked for many years as a health and safety engineer.  He was president of the parish council at St Anthony’s and was a lector and distributor, also delivering communion to shut-ins with his loving wife Yvonne. 
 
Daniel and Yvonne (Silcox) were married nearly 56 years before his passing.  Other survivors include, their children, Kathy Miller, Amy (Sean) Berry, Jeff (Amy) Obringer and Greg (Ann) Obringer all of Norwalk; grandchildren, Colleen, Erica and Kennan Miller, Larissa (Jeremy) Sherman, Alaina (Jordan) Duncan, Ian, Brenna, Anessa, Sela and Mara Berry, Colin, Quinn, and Mattie Obringer and Samantha, Sydney, Blake, Garrett and Eli Obringer; siblings, Diane Obringer of Willoughby, Bob (Marlene) Obringer of Columbus, Tim (Sherry) Obringer of Overland Park, KS, Judie (Jim) Scheerer of Fort Wayne, IN and John Obringer of Norwalk; great grandchild, Daniel Duncan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Friends and family are strongly encouraged to wear Cleveland Indians apparel to a memorial visitation on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main St, Norwalk, 44857. A Mass will take place at St Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 38 W League St, Norwalk, 44857 on Monday, July 8th  beginning at 10:30 am.
