Dawn Elaine Sword, 71, a lifelong resident of Wellington, died Monday, July 15, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. Born on May 27, 1948, in Lodi, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (nee Beam) McClellan.
Dawn worked for Forest City for over 25 years. She also detailed cars for numerous people in town. Dawn enjoyed being outdoors working in her yard, in her flowerbeds, or taking a walk. Yearly trips to Cedar Point with her family were always a highlight as was the Lorain County Fair. Dawn was an animal lover and raised several dogs. She was able to recently take a trip with her family to Tennessee fulfilling a longtime wish. Most of all Dawn cherished her family and spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 53 years, Bennie; daughters Melissa (Edward) Thorn, of Wellington, and Clarissa (Robbie) Gilbert, of Norwalk; grandchildren Nathan, Ryan, and Kaylee Thorn, of Wellington, and Caleb, and Jacob Gilbert, of Norwalk; and brothers Gerald and Chuck McClellan, both of Wellington.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 20, beginning at 10 a.m. at Rochester Cemetery.
