Dottie Lou Varney

Dottie L. Varney, 78, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2019 at Norwalk Memorial Home.  She was born on June 17, 1941 in Cassie, West Virginia to the late Jess and Wilda (Copley) Cooley. 

Dottie valued the comforts of home and family and cherished her grandchildren.  She appreciated nature and especially enjoyed birds and deer.   Her dumplings during Thanksgiving were a yearly family favorite. 

Dottie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Norwalk.

Survivors include her sons, Dewey Jr. (Cindy) Varney and Doug (Brenda) Striker both of Norwalk; daughter, Lelah Weidinger of Norwalk; grandchildren, Karlee Varney of Norwalk, Mitchell Varney of HI; step-grandchildren, Jon (Jacquie) Houser of Cleveland, Liz (Jim) Adams of Norwalk and Chris Houser of PA; 6 step-great grandchildren; siblings, Judy (Kermit) Workman of WV, Betty (Ron) Wise of Norwalk, Tabby Cooley of WV and Diane (Glendale) Marrett of WV; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her late husbands, Dewey Varney Sr. and Richard Striker; son, Jeffrey Ray Varney; brother, Gary Bruce Cooley and close friend, Lois Skinner.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, OH where services will be held the following day at 11 A.M. with Pastor Rick Kennison officiating.  Burial will follow the service on Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com
