Dwight Coder Obituary

Dwight L. Coder, 96, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Twilight Gardens Nursing Home in Norwalk. He was born on September 14, 1922 to the late Wallie Cleveland and Effie Azaelea (Leonard) Coder and was a graduate of New Washington High School.

Dwight served his country as part of the US Navy during WWII. He helped honor veterans all his life after his military service as a member and former commander of both the American Legion Post #41 and VFW Post #2743.

Dwight moved to Norwalk in 1952 and owned and operated Bauer Radiator Service for over 20 years. He had also worked for Norb's Marathon, Hamilton Beach Inc. and after retirement went back to work for Norwalk Furniture for about 6 years. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He was a very social and ambitious guy, always willing to lend a hand, who enjoyed a good party, bowling and golf. Dwight's easy-going nature will be fondly remembered.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Cole) Miller-Jackson; son, Gerald Coder of Norwalk; grandchildren, Aaron (Annie) Coder, Dawn (Adam) Bauman, Ian (Kathleen) Short, Brian (Heather) Coder and Sean (Shandra) Coder; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his first wife, Johanna "Annie" (Maher) Coder; sons, Wallie and James; brother, Doyle and sister, Lucile.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, June 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Walker- Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main St, Norwalk where services will be held on Saturday, June 15, at 10:30 am with Pastor David Detwiler officiating. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Norwalk American Legion Post #41, 406 W Main St, Norwalk, OH 44857 or the Norwalk VFW Post #2743, 140 Milan Ave, Norwalk, OH 44857.
