Rita L Niciu

Norwalk, Ohio – Rita L. Niciu, 69, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 in her home. She was born on October 31, 1949 to the late MaryBelle (Muldrew) and Richard P. Charnock in South Wheeling, West Virginia. She then moved to the Lorain area at age 16, and in 1975, moved to Norwalk, Ohio.  She worked at Norstat Thermostat, Norwalk, Ohio from 1989 to 1996, and bartended for many years at the V.F.W. Post 2743, retiring in 2002.  Rita enjoyed playing bingo, Elvis Presley, the Cleveland Indians, and those “Darn” Pittsburgh Steelers.  She was known for twirling her hair when her hair was longer, and to her close friends and family, she was known as “Rita Wino” as she loved her Riunite Lambrusco.  Rita loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She is survived by her children, Shawn D. (Carol) VanMeter of Elyria, Ohio, Cynthia R. (Craig) Wilson of Clearwater, Florida, and Heather K. Nickoli of Norwalk, Ohio, by her grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Kirsten, and Douglas.  She is also survived by her siblings, Richard, George (Debra), and Robert Charnock, Linda Stan, Diana Jones, and Stanley, Kimberly and Kathy Gorczyca, by dear friends Jeanette Nichols, and Vivian Clark, and by several nieces and nephews.  There will be no visitation and no services, a private family service will be held at a later date.
