Ruth Jean (Motter) Rumbaugh, 91, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2019 at The Laurels of New London. Born in Clarksfield, Ohio on July 3, 1928. She graduated from New London High School in 1946. Jean married Lee Rumbaugh on August 30, 1947. They will be spending their 71st wedding anniversary together in heaven on Friday, August 30.
Jean had worked as a secretary at New London Schools before becoming a full time homemaker and mother along with helping Lee on the farm.
Jean had been involved in New London’s T.O.P.S. club serving as the clubs secretary/treasurer. Jean also bowled many years and on several leagues and had been a league secretary. She was a member of Longfellow Chapter of New London CLSC.
Jean and Lee supported both daughters with their love of horses and their showing them in 4-H and at horse shows.
Jean is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne (Dan) Church, Susan (Randy) Fishbaugh; granddaughter, Patricia Church; brother, David (Jan) Motter and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Rumbaugh in 2000; parents, Forrest and Ruth Motter and brother, Russell Motter.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London, OH 44851, where the service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Cheryl Roshon. Interment will be private at Grove Street Cemetery.
