Sean Stuart Cope

Sean Stuart Cope died suddenly September 21, 2018 at 10:20 in the evening at his home at 400 Massachusetts Avenue, Washington DC. He was 41 years old. He was the founder of Quanterum, a managed security services company, and co-founder of Homeland Security Consultants with his father Robert. He worked with his father his entire career in computer security.

He was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1976 at 6:10 in the evening in Newport News, Virginia with Christmas Carols playing in the delivery room. His mom picked his name because it means: “Gracious gift from God.” He grew up in Virginia Beach and when he was 6 years old his brother Troy was born. His mother died when he was 11 on June 28, 1988 at 9:10 in the morning. Troy was 5 years old.

He graduated from Robinson High School in Fairfax, Virginia and received a bachelor’s degree, with honors (Magna Cum Laude like his dad), from George Mason University. Sean’s life was filled with many challenges and adventures, but always lived at full speed and with maximum enthusiasm.  He was a very talented, motivated, and self-driven individual. He loved exploring the world, camping, hiking up mountains, biking down trails, and showing off his moves on the dance floor. Sean will be missed dearly and the world is a lesser place without him.

A loving, proud father and devoted husband, Sean is survived by his wife Anna and two-year-old son Magnus, his brother Troy, nephew Cameron and father Robert and wife Erin. He is preceded in death by his mother and grandmother, LaVaughn Cope.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery.
