Carrie Sword Obituary
Carrie Mildred Sword, 91, of Wellington died Saturday, October 13, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born June 10, 1927 in Sidney KY, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Oney (nee Smith) Pinson. Carrie and her husband Johnny moved to Wellington with their family in 1955.
Hard work was a hallmark of Carries life; she retired from Weber Health Care after 40 years. While at Weber's she served as a nurse's aid, a cook, and as the head of housekeeping. Carrie was a talented seamstress and made numerous quilts. She was also an excellent gardener and made delicious meals from the garden. She was a dedicated member of Christ Community Church in Wellington. Family was of the utmost importance to Carrie, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, and cherished time spent with her family.
Survivors include her children, Russel (Sandy) Sword, of New London, Stoney Sword, of Wakeman, Anna Russell, of Elyria, Patty (Larry) Gum, of Goshen IN, Artie (Jayne) Sword, Sandra Jordan, both of Wellington, Donnie (Cathy) Sword, of Goshen IN, Debbie Galloway, Kenny (Stacy) Sword, and Melissa (John) Savel, all of Wellington; 33 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren with 3 more anticipated; and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Jean Daniel, of Lexington KY. Carrie was preceded in death by her husband Johnny in 1966; children Edgar Sword and Peggy Grimes; sisters Mattie Harris, Anna Mae Darby, Katherine Jacobs, Alice Francis, Elsie Damron, and Mary Farris; half brother Ernie Pinson; grandchildren Chad, Ava, Joshua, Adeline, and Lisa; great grandson Casius; daughters-in-law Kathy and Karen Sword and son-in-law Kevin Jordan.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, October 15, from 5-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington. Services will be held on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 212 West Herrick, Wellington, Pastor Gary West will officiate and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in Carrie's memory may be directed to either Christ Community Church or to Well Help, 127 Park Place, Wellington. Condolences may be expressed online at www.norton-eastmanfunerlahome.com
