Harry Milton Filler, 93, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his residence in Wakeman, Ohio.
He was born March 8, 1925 in Warren, Ohio. He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio and was a youth leader in his church. He served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army during WWII, spending the majority of his enlisted time aboard a ship sent to Japan upon their surrender. After the war, Harry went to college on the GI bill and earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Kent State University. He worked in the plastics industry, selling stabilizers and stearates to the automotive industry. In his career, he saw the first plastic containers produced on exhibit at a trade show.
Harry had a life-long love of fireworks and Cedar Point, where he worked upon retirement. He enjoyed boating, traveling, and the outdoors, and found great peace tending apples and gardens throughout his life on various rural properties.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lily (nee Hallett) Filler, and brothers Albert, Phillip and Robert. He is survived by one brother, Joseph Filler, three daughters, Jeanne (Judd) Reese, Deborah (John) O'Neill, Sandra (David) Boles, nine grandchildren, one nephew, numerous nieces and grand-nieces.
