Lorraine Pettit, age 96, lifelong resident of the Greenwich area died at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, on Sunday, October 28, 2018.
Born October 27, 1922, in Joliet, Illinois. She graduated from the Greenwich High School in 1941.
Lorraine married Richard Sanders and after his deployment to WWII they found out Lorraine was expecting their first child. Richard was killed in the war and never received the chance to
meet his son.
During WWII Lorraine worked in Shelby at a center to help the war effort. She farmed on her family farm and worked several years at MidWest Industries in Willard.
Lorraine married Ralph Pettit in the mid 40's. She enjoyed bowling and received many honors and trophies. Lorraine loved to play cards, especially Pinochle. She made many beautiful ceramics.
Survivors include her sons, Larry (Diane) Sanders of Greenwich and Carl (Jeanne) Pettit of Norwalk; grandchildren, Shellie (Mike) Allen, Mike Sanders, Chris (Chrissy) Pettit and Jamie Pettit; 3 step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-granddaughters and 1 great-great-grandson.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marie Sweet; first husband, Richard Sanders and second husband, Ralph Pettit.
Visitation will be held at Eastman Funeral Home in Greenwich from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 and a service will be held Thursday at 11 am with Pastor Eric Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Edwards Grove Cemetery in Greenwich.
