Nola Mohrman, 99, of Columbus and formerly of Pittsfield, passed on Easter afternoon, April 1, 2018. Born on March 9, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lottie (nee Behnke) Smith. Nola spent her early life on 1114 Lake Street, Elyria, Ohio before marrying her husband and moved to the Mohrman family farm in Pittsfield. As a young city girl, she quickly took to farm life for the next 68 years.
Nola attended business college and became a secretary before taking a job at Allen Memorial Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and volunteered at the Hospital, and raised 3 boys. She enjoyed Traveling as well as swimming, golfing and bowling.
After her husband passed, she set about traveling the world. It didn't matter if it was Eastern Europe or Eastern Ohio, she came home with many adventures and new friends. Being a bit of a tomboy, she loved golf and never missed a chance to drop her housework and go golfing with her friends.
After moving to Friendship Village in Columbus, she kept on the move, joining the local writing club. She interviewed the incoming residents and wrote up their biographies. Her quick wit and passion for writing lead her to write a book of her life stories. "Life on the Farm" quickly became a favorite read of the Village residents and staff alike.
Survivors include her sons, David Edward (Margaret) Mohrman, James Albert (Deb) Mohrman, and William Jeffrey (Julie) Mohrman; 8 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Nola was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Mohrman and was the last of 9 siblings.
