Norma Sonewald Obituary
Norma Jean Sonewald, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 82, on Monday, April 2, 2018 at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland. She was born on June 23, 1935 in Lodi, daughter of the late Glenn and Berdene (nee Dudley) Gillette.
Norma graduated from Wellington High School in 1953 and had worked at the Wellington Foundry.
She was a faithful member of the Brighton Congregational Church. There she served as the organist and a Sunday school teacher for many years. Norma was passionate about helping children as she and her late husband Roy were foster parents. She had also devoted many years as a 4-H advisor.
Norma was the beloved mother to James (Sandy) Sonewald of New London, Brenda (Donald) Kitts of New London, Gary (Patty) Sonewald of New London and Judi (Terry) Kitts of Ashland; grandchildren, Lindsey, Shaun, Adam, Dominic, Casey, Alex and Josh; 1 great-grandchild, Elliott Kitts, and brothers, Gerald Gillette and Allen (Mary Lou) Gillette.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband Roy, infant son, Paul and sister in law Barbara Gillette.
The visitation will be held from 5 pm until the 7 pm service at Eastman Funeral Home in New London on Friday, April 6, 2018 with Rev. John Burgess officiating. Her interment will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Norma's honor can be given to the Brighton Congregational Church.
