Patrick James Cassidy

Patrick James Cassidy, 71, of New London, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. He was born July 23, 1943 in Norwalk, to the late James and Emma (McGuckin) Cassidy. Patrick lived in Norwalk until the age of 8 when he and his family moved to the family farm in Collins and in the early 1960's he moved to New London.

Pat graduated from Wakeman High School in 1961. He worked at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky in the early 60's and drove truck for KB Rowland Trucking. Pat worked for the Village of New London from 1966 until he retired January 6, 2006 as Village Administrator and Class 1 license for the New London Water Department. As the Village Administrator he actively participated with the New London CIC, New London Recreation Park Board and Reservoir. Patrick also owned and operated Cassidy Construction with his son David where they built homes and developments.

Patrick was a member of the New London Fire Department for 40 years. He was also a former member of the New London Rotary and past president.

He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, farming, NASCAR, gardening and car shows.

Patrick is survived by his son, David (Robin) Cassidy of North Fairfield; daughter, Kay (Joel) Copley of New London; grandchildren, Alex Copley, Eden Copley, Skyler Cassidy and Brooklyn Cassidy; brother, Dennis (Marjorie) Cassidy of Collins; nieces, Carolyne Dular and Debra Marich and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

His family will greet friends Wednesday from 1-3 and 5-7:30 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London where a service will be held at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Lorry Mabiala officiating. A private burial will be held at Scott Cemetery in Huron Township.
