Richard Lee Cermak, 75, of Wellington, died Monday, November 26, 2018 at his home and surrounded by his family. Born on June 16, 1943 he was the son of the late Earl Cermak and Phyllis (nee Homen) Panek. Richard was a graduate of North Olmsted High School.
A hard worker, Richard started at the Parma GM plant on the line and worked his way up to a superintendent of the facility. He was driven and was willing to work hard to provide for his family. Richard was an avid drag racer and was awarded the Sportsman of the Year award in 2001 at Norwalk Raceway. He was dedicated to his family and to his racing family.
survivors include his son Rick (Wendy) Cermak, of LaGrange; and his brother William Cermak, of Grafton. he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Karin Cermak and a brother David.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, December 1, from 2-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington.
