Richard Paul Gainok, 82, formerly of Brighton Township, died peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Akron General Hospital. Born on August 3, 1936 in South Amherst, he was the son of the Late Goldie (nee Yukas)and Paul Gainok. Richard was a second generation Hungarian American and was proud of his ancestry.
Richard worked for the Ford Motor Company and retired after 36 years. He also owned and operated the Gainok Christmas Tree Farm. Richard was active with the Boy Scouts of America and the Wellington Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed studying history and spending time fishing.
Richard is survived by his sister, Pauline Sechel, of Aiken, SC; a grandson, Daniel Kelly, of Wabash, IN; a caregiver Jami Mosher, his adopted family and many friends. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife Judith in 2006 and his daughter Connie Kelly in 2018.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, with a Masonic service beginning at 7:45 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at the Brighton Township Cemetery at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Ellis officiating.
