Walter Vaught Obituary

Walter H. Vaught, 86, went to Heaven on August 3, 2017. He died in his home with his daughter Peggy at his side. He was born at home in Grant County, Kentucky on November 14, 1930. He lived in Grant County and Lincoln County through his childhood as a young husband and father and later moved to Lorain County in 1952. Walter made his home in the Wellington area for many years before moving to Lorain, Ohio in 2004 to make his home with his daughter, Carol.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Vaught and Margaret (Young) Vaught; his wife, Betty (Keeton) Vaught; daughters, Janet (Gary) Harp and Sheilah Stafirski; brothers, Tom, Jim and John Vaught; sisters Mildred Busse and Eva Hall. He is survived by daughters Carol Christman of Lorain and Peggy (Ray) McCreary of Norwalk; son, Walter Alex (Tammy) Vaught of Wellington and sister Opal (Joe) Crank of Indiana; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Walter worked over 30 years for the Cleveland Quarries in Amherst and 10 years at the Nickol Stone Quarry in Kipton. He also farmed in Kentucky. His interests included hunting, fishing, gardening and talking with people and spending time with his family and friends.
Burial took place at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington beside his wife of almost 50 years. He will be sorely missed by those he left behind but we know he is happily reunited with those who went before him. Memory contributions can be made to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053. They helped so much to ensure he spent his final days at home comfortably.
