Dr. Adelaide Sauers, 85, of Ruggles Township, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk. She was born August 12, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Adie lived in Greenwich until she was 10 years old and in 1937 she moved to the family farm in Ruggles Township.
She was a 1944 Greenwich High School graduate and was a 1947 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan College, where she earned membership into Phi Beta Kappa. Adie continued her education and was a 1951 graduate of Western Reserve Medical School. She completed her residency at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Sauers practiced medicine as a pediatrician in Columbus, Ohio from 1955 until she retired in 1987.
Adie was active with the well child program and helping improve medical access to her community. She was an avid reader, loved miniature Schnauzers and was proud of her family homestead. Dr. Sauers was a member of the Greenwich Rotary and the Greenwich Ladies Historical Society. She and her late brother donated the family farm to the Ashland Park District, which is known as the Pine Hill Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret S. (Dungan) Dellinger and Dr. Charles S. Sauers, her brother, Dr. James Sauers. Adelaide is survived by many good friends.
There will be no services. Eastman Funeral Home, Greenwich were in charge of arrangements.
