Adeline R. Schira, age 96, of Greenwich, died Monday, December 29, 2008 at Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard. She was born December 15, 1912 in Cleveland daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Mraz) Fulnecky. She had lived in the Cleveland area until moving to Greenwich in 1979 after she retired. Adeline worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Armature Coil Equipment in Cleveland from the 1950's until she retired. She was a former member of St. Procop Catholic Church while in Cleveland where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was currently a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed bowling and her family.
She is survived by her large and loving family' four children, Thomas (Katherine) Schira, Phyllis Houts and Skip, Mary Lou (Roger) Alto, Geraldine (David) Slatkovsky; thirteen grandchildren; Tom (Dottie, dec.) Schira, Jr., Karen (Dan) Parrott, Nancy Krohn, Mike (Karin) Schira, Pat (John) Malloy, Sue (Ray) Greene, Loralee (Dan) Van Vleet, Scott (Flo) Alto, Keith (Holly) Alto, Debbie (Gary) Lucas, Kathy (Phil) Gall, Ken (Kris) Slatkovsky, Greg (Jessica) Slatkovsky, twenty-one great-grandchildren; Tom Schira, Jr.,
Amber (Josh) Darby, Katelyn and Emily Krohn, Tyler and Alix Schira, Jeff and Danielle Malloy, Jessica, Chris and Rachael Greene, Heather Amanda, Brittany and Lindsay Van Vleet, Madeline and Andrew Alto, Sydney Alto, Alyssa and Ryan Gall and Megan Slatkovsky; and one great-great-grandchild, Adrianna Darby. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Edmund Schira and great grandchild, Nathan Van Vleet.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 4th at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich and Monday, January 5th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 117 Sandusky St. , Plymouth with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Burial to take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
