Alan Charles Dean, 62, of Naples, Florida, passed away January 27, 2026, surrounded by family.
Alan was born in Norwalk, Ohio, to Jane and Al Dean. He lived in New London, before moving to Sylvania, where he graduated from Sylvania Northview in 1982 after having a successful baseball season and taking carpentry classes. Shortly after he spent some time in Austin Texas, before settling in Naples, Florida in 1987, he found his passion for woodworking, specializing in finish carpentry.
Family was always a priority for him. His "girls" and grandchildren were the center of his world. He was the most devoted father, proud, and loving grandfather, caring brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He was the kind of person everyone loved the moment they met him. He was warm, kind, and genuinely good to his core. You could count on him to crack a joke, brighten the room, and make people smile. Even when things were hard, he had a way of making everyone feel welcomed, cared for and at ease. His kindness, patience and gentle spirit were his trademark. He will be greatly missed.
He was proceeded in death by his mom, Jane Dean Gainey, dad, Al Dean, grandparents, Charles and Evelyn Crabbs, a sister, and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his "girls", Ali Dean of Naples, Florida, Shelby (Ethan) Lundgren of Huntersville, N.C., grandchildren, Aiden and Aspen Ivy and Emma Lundgren, and sisters, Vickie (Glenn) Hammersmith, Jon Kelley, Sandy Flores, Terry (Tony) Sutton, Leann Dean, JoAnn Stafford and Keith Thrasher.
A celebration of life was held in Naples for his Florida family.
A celebration of his life will also be held in Ohio, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Friends and family will be welcomed from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. (noon). A memorial service will begin at 12 p.m. (noon) with Pastor Doug Lang officiating.
