Norwalk, Ohio - Alan J. Smith, 58, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. He was born to the late Walter L. and Edith J. (Lamb) Smith, on March 10, 1959, in Norwalk, Ohio, and was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, and Monroeville, Ohio. He was first and foremost a family man, and a loving, supportive, proud father of his three children who all served in the United States military. He was employed by Midway in Monroeville, Ohio, for 25 years, enjoyed traveling, driving his truck across the country, boating, being outside, doing yardwork, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Alan is survived by his children, Jennifer D. (Fernando) Filpo, of Clarksville, TN, Robert M. Smith, of DesMoine, IA, and Jaclyn N. Smith, of Norwalk, Ohio, by his grandchildren, Anthony, and Theodore Filpo. He is also survived by his siblings, Greg L. Smith, Marten D. Smith, Roger K. Smith, Kathleen C. (Richard) Griffin, and Amy J. (Gary) Rasnick, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
