Obituary

Albert H. "Smiley" Clark, age 86, of New London, died Saturday morning, December 8, 2012 at The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands, New London. He was born November 12, 1926 in Norwalk, Ohio, son of the late Homer and Katherine (McKean) Clark. Albert was a 1945 graduate of New London High School. He served in the U.S. Army in German Occupation Forces. He had worked for several years as a draftsman for Milan Steel, drove a steel truck for the former G.F. Alger Co., then for Detroit Pittsburgh and then worked for Clark Brothers Garage in New London. He also drove school bus for New London schools for 32 years having retired in 2004. He was a member of the New London United Methodist Church, the N.R.A., the New London V.F.W., New London American Legion, and a 57 year member of Floral Lodge 260 of New London and the Gibson Lodge 301 F&AM. His father and Uncle Buford formed Clark Brothers Garage in 1928. In a building that was torn down at the location of the current Mickey Mart gas station. In 1938 Homer built the cement garage that is the current location of Clark Brothers Garage. Homer and Buford retired in 1963, then Albert and Eugene took over the garage until 1992 when it was sold. Clark Brothers Garage was a AAA service provider for over 50 years. He is survived by his children, Greg (Anna) Clark of New London and Vanessa (Dennis) Rice of New London; his siblings, Lucille (Clark) Olson and Eugene Clark both of New London; 6 granddaughters, Nicole Sosa, Heather and Tiffany Clark, Angela (Allen) McClellan, Ashley and Inez Thomas, 4 great grandchildren, Katie Roberts & Gabe Sosa, Alona and Adalyn McClellan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Lang officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Grove Street Cemetery, New London. Memorials may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or donors choice.
