Obituary

Albert (Al) E. Treisch, Jr. of Galion, Ohio died following a brief illness on Thursday, September 10, 2009. Mr. Treisch was currently living in New London with his daughter, Diana after being diagnosed with his illness. Treisch was born September 3, 1929 in Galveston, Texas to Albert E. and Mary Margaret (Miller) Treisch. He married Barbara J. Clark on September 2, 1953 who survives. They were the parents of Brian Treisch, Galion, Diana Deppen, New London, and Curtis Treisch, who died in infancy. He was the proud grandfather of William Blubaugh, Dublin, Ohio, Benjamin Blubaugh, Galion, and Zachary Deppen, New London. He followed their sports activities with great enthusiasm. He is survived by three sisters, Betty Jean Smith of Stoutsville, Ohio, Lorelle Edwards of Lancaster, Ohio, and Roberta Gordon of Newark, Ohio and a sister-in-law, Theone Sipes of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jefferson V. Treisch, General J. Treisch, and Robert Treisch. Mr. Treisch was always a great promoter of Galion, calling it 'the center of the universe.' He was employed by Bob's News for twenty-four years, Power Equipment of Galion, the Galion City Schools, and retired from Fairway-Waycraft in Bucyrus. He was a charter member of the Galion Jaycees. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Galion. He sat on the Galion City Council for many years, serving as Councilman at Large and President of Council. He also served as Mayor of Galion. He was proud of his accomplishments on council, particularly developing the parks of Galion. Al was an avid gardener and was known for his sense of humor. It was his request that there be no calling hours. Memorial gifts can be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870, or the Synergy Committee of the Galion City Schools. A memorial service to celebrate a his wonderful life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 4 at the First United Church of Christ, 218 Harding Way W., Galion, Ohio. Arrangements were entrusted to Eastman Funeral Home.
