Obituary

Alfred (Al) D'Ettorre, age 93, passed into the healing arms of the Lord on March 14th, 2022. Al often said his family was truly blessed. He is survived by his children, Annette (Bob) McLaughlin, and sons Joseph (Erin), Dino (Deborah), Victor (Darla), fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and Bonnie, mother of their children and close friend. He looked forward to being reunited in Heaven with his late parents, Frank and Anna, only sister Antoinette and his brothers Dino, Gus and John. An educator at heart, Al was an Engineering instructor in Japan for the U.S. Army during the Korean War, followed by high school teaching positions in Pomeroy, Cleveland, North Olmstead, Bellevue and Greenwich. His career included management positions with Midwest Industries, MTD in Willard, South Central High School Principal in Greenwich, and Administrator of Betty Rinderle School in Erie County. Al had many interests, including Classical music, dancing (especially Polkas), swimming, sailing, tennis, travel, and especially family fun. His varied civic activities included North Fairfield village councilman, and active involvement with the Lions Club and the American Legion. After retiring to Texas, Al was a volunteer with the VA Texas Valley Healthcare System. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date on the shores of Lake Erie. The Reverend Kevin D'Ettorre will be the celebrant.  Condolences to the family may be expressed by visiting: www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com
