Alfred Paul Hill, 69, of Wellington and formerly of Elyria, died Friday, October 2, 2015 at his home. Born in Cleveland on November 3, 1945, Alfred was the son of the late Walter and Thelma (nee Ledyard) Hill. He proudly served in Vietnam for 2 years and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts.
A welder by profession, Alfred worked at Mader Dampers in Lagrange for 33 years. As a life member of the VFW, he was the Junior Vice Commander of the Elyria VFW and a member of the Grafton VFW DAV. Alfred was also a member of Keeper of the Crummy Duffle Bag - KOOTIES and a Little League coach for 4 years. Alfred enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated grandpa who valued time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Susan (nee Conway); daughters, Angela (Jamie) Westfall of Wellington and Amy (David) Arndt, Jr. of PA; grandchildren, Kayla Hill, Ty Westfall, Michael Narcavage, Gabrielle Narcavage, Brianna Narcavage, Kelsey Arndt and David Arndt III. He is also survived by sisters, Linda Wyman of Elyria, Ruth Reaser of Elyria, Carol Cupp of West Unity, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Hill, Walt Hill, Jr., Fred Hill, Jack Hill, and sisters, Betty Volk and Alice Vedder.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of services beginning at 7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Grafton VFW will perform military rites following the service. A private burial will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon at a later date.
