Alice Clawson, 87, life long resident of Adario, died Friday, February 25, 2011 at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. She was born July 21, 1923 in Bloomingrove Twp., Ohio, daughter of the late Nyle and Cora (Fisher) Clark.
She graduated from Shiloh High School and was a homemaker. Alice was a member of the Rome Country Club and Adario Mothers Club. She was involved with the Butler Township Farmers Instutite for many years with the meals and plays. Alice was a life long member of the Mt. Hope Lutheran Church and she was very active at the annual Shiloh Ox roast at the food tent.
She is survived by her loving children, Diane Merkle of Akron and Dennis (Patricia) Clawson of Shiloh; grandchildren, Arnold Clawson, Ed (Victoria) Merkle, Melissa Merkle, Michelle (Keith) Brenstuhl and great granddaughter, Lila Merkle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Clawson, Jr., grandson, Jeff Clawson and siblings, Janice Hawthorne, Howard and Robert Clark.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1st at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, 29 West Main St., Shiloh, with Rev. John Wanamaker and Pastor Christopher Liberati officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. In lieu of flowers memorials if desired may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Inc., 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, Ohio 44805, Mt.
