Eastman Funeral Home 419-929-3781 Allen Puckett, age 94, of Savannah, slipped peacefully from this life to a glorious reunion in Heaven on September 6, 2014 at Samaritan Regional Hospital, Ashland. He was born July 28, 1920 in Rowan County, Kentucky, son of the late Saul and Margaret (Johnson) Puckett. Allen moved to Ohio in the late 1940's and had lived in the Fitchville area and Savannah for the past 60 years. He retired from Ohio Body Manufacturing in the late 1970's and had also worked for the former Aldridge Lumber Co. of Wellington. Allen was a lumberjack and had set a record with his brother using a crosscut saw. He was proud to have worked clearing timber for Findley State Park. Allen loved the woods and nature. He is survived by his children, Harvey (Shirley) Puckett, Phillip (Beverly) Puckett, Brenda Slaughter, Arthur (Heather) Puckett, Tom Szabo, Art (Melissa) Szabo, Shirley (Wayne) Caudill, Sandy Garrett and Vicki (Mel) Bailey-Helton and a grandson he helped raise, Timothy (Amanda) Workman; 35 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Preceding him to Glory was his wife, Laura in March 2006, their infant son, Allen. In this life after life reunion Allen will join his parents and his siblings, Ada, Alvin, Della, Everett, Gladys, Hazel and Louisa. Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London and from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Mel Helton officiating.
