IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Amanda Louise
Jackson
July 14, 1971 – January 8, 2025
Amanda Louise Jackson, loving mother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully at 53 on January 8, 2025.
Born on July 14, 1971, at Oberlin Hospital to the late Arthur and Sharon Jackson. Growing up, Amanda was an active member in 4-H where she and her horse, Dreamy, would compete in local open shows. Amanda graduated early from Keystone High School in 1988 so she could travel to India as a foreign exchange student through Rotary International. After returning from India, Amanda continued her education at Ashland University through the Mansfield General Hospital College of Nursing. She graduated with her degree in nursing; and was a highly skilled critical care nurse with immense knowledge, compassion, and passion for her field. She would later have two children Seth and Emma Simon. She was a loving mother and would not hesitate to advocate for her children. Amanda was also a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria, OH. Amanda had a great sense of humor and would find humor whether they were appropriate or inappropriate situations. She loved music, her favorite band being U2. She was also an avid fiction and non-fiction reader. Amanda was passionate about animals, primarily dogs with the joy they brought to her life. She was an advocate for and supported local animal rescues from where she adopted many of her fur family members. Amanda was also passionate about current events; particularly politics. She had a strong dislike for the incoming president-elect, a fact that she would appreciate being put in print.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Sharon Jackson.
She is survived by her children; Seth Simon of Elyria, OH, and Emma Simon of Hopkins, MN. Dear sister of Beth Vartanian (Aram) of Kyle, TX, and Carol Wallace (Bob) of Lagrange, OH. Aunt of Jasen, Jacob, and Isaac Harmelink, Katherine Seelam, and Jared and Mason Wallace. Great aunt of Thaddeus and Cordelia Seelam. A true friend who will be sincerely missed by the countless people whose lives she advocated for and graced.
A private celebration will be held on Saturday, July 12 at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Expressions of sympathy may be given at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
